I built this because my old software was failing me
Gem City Cleaning Tools started as one cleaning business owner’s attempt to stop losing hours to scheduling. It’s still built around that same problem.
Where this came from
I’m Chris Wilson. Before I wrote a line of code for Gem City Cleaning Tools, I ran a residential cleaning business. The software I was using to schedule my cleaners couldn’t show me who was actually available, didn’t flag when I’d booked two jobs for the same cleaner at the same time, and made time-off requests something I found out about after the fact.
Every double-booking meant a call to a client explaining why nobody was showing up. Every missed time-off request meant scrambling to cover a job last-minute. None of that was a training problem — it was a visibility problem. So I started building the tool I actually needed, and eventually that tool became Gem City Cleaning Tools.
